2020 has been the most long-drawn-out year I have ever experienced, not only challenging because of Covid-19 but mentally exhausting and stressful. Many suffer from Pandemic fatigue, feeling overwhelmed by being constantly vigilant with social distancing, hand washing, and mask-wearing. Let’s not talk about Lockdowns.
Yet, despite all these drawbacks, we still hope and plan for a better future. December is the perfect time to reflect on what you accomplished (or overcame) this year and how you want to experience 2021.
The question is, what will you change to make 2021 your best year ever?
What if?
What if you visualize your life and work happening as you have dreamt? What would you change to make it happen? Even if you took small steps, you would be closer to it than not having done anything.
What if you expanded your thinking to focus on projects you have put off starting? What would completing them do for you? Would they bring you closer to the work-life you want?
What if you list twenty things you accomplished or overcame this year? How can you apply what you have learned to make 2021 the best year ever?
What if you listed five mistakes you made this year? What would you have done differently, and how can you apply what you have learned to new experiences? Remember, mistakes are learning what not to do.
What if you created a theme for 2021 to remind you of the life and work you want to experience? For example, “This is my year!” or “Financial Freedom!”
Focusing on what you want for 2021 can evolve your thinking into new directions, new possibilities, and new growth. As you consider these new ideas now or in the future, ask yourself,
“What If?”
